Class 4 Maths – Chapter 7: Fractions
A Fraction denotes a part of a whole number. it is written in a format of NUMERATOR/DENOMINATOR.
Example: 7/9 has 7 as numerator and 9 as denominator.

Proper fractions:
if the numerator is less than denominator, then it is called proper fraction.
Improper fractions:
if the numerator is greator than or equal to the denominator then it is called improper fraction.
Like fractions:
Fractions with common denominator are called like fractions
Example: 2/7, 3/7, 4/7, 5/7
Unlike fractions:
Fractions with different denominators are called Unlike fractions
Example: 2/6, 3/7, 4/8, 5/9
Unit fraction:
Fraction with 1 as numerator are called as unit fraction.
Example: 1/7, 3/7 etc.
Mixed Fraction:
A fraction which has a both a whole number and a fraction is called a mixed fraction.
